"Erosion of Memory" Opening

What an incredible Opening night!

I encourage anyone in the Philadelphia area to visit the galleries at Moore and see all the fabulous work created by the graduating class.

The night was especially wonderful for me because I was awarded the "Alumnae Award for Excellence in Textile Design" and asked to participate in a three person Exhibition at the Midwives Collective (http://www.midwivescollective.com/) in Philadelphia, PA. The show will also feature Masha Badinter and Angel O. The opening will be on September 11th, 2009.

Sarah Wray’s work focuses on the erosion of memory. Just as a digital file slowly degrades when opened and saved, memories dissolve and coalesce each time they are recalled. A series of three digital collages illustrates memories never captured by the camera that are fading out with time. Other pieces by the artist (not shown in the thesis exhibition) include digital illustrations of fleeting memories, the transition of a memory distorting, and peripheral details of memories. This collection of work was created through a process of digital manipulations with some pieces texturally treated with handmade paper pulp.
