On April 11th, a great deal of wonderful things came into my life. I've been very busy planning and working on finals so I haven't had time to blog about them. But now, a few days before I leave for California, I am catching up.
The Finn-Storey family created a new scholarship in honor of their late daughter Cathrine who also studied Textile Design at Moore. My department selected me to be the first recipient of this scholarship. Words can not describe how thankful I am for this endowment, especially at time of such economic stress.
Too add to my blessings this night, I also won the Sarah Peter Travel Fellowship for my California Proposal and my exhibit featuring 11 photographs and 3 textile prints.
Lisa Imperial and I were two of the four award recipients that night.
So, on Wednesday May 21st I head out to California for two weeks to explore the terrain and learn about a new coast. I will be visiting San Francisco, the Shasta Lakes, Yosemite, Big Sur, Los Angels, and San Diego. I intend to pass through most of California and stay in key sites of different settings with dramatic landscape and urban culture. I can not wait to see where all of this research will take me.
