Being an observer by nature I use my art as a way to illuminate life’s overlooked details. My work is pattern driven and abstract, referencing my experience with painting, fine art photography, and the digital arts.

My Personal Mountain
This is a fibers piece I've been working on for about a month. It started as a sculpture that relates to the patterns, shadow, highlights and texture of mountains, terrain and topography. Through the month it became my own personal mountain (running into every complication that is ever possible in weaving) and is still incomplete. I started by winding a 30 foot long warp made of hand dyed wool and cotton. After I wove it off, I put it in the washing machine to felt and shrink it. After a few cycles, whallah, I had a stiff woven piece that I shaped on the wall. I plan to go back into the sculpture with more wool and felt in sections of pattern and details. I learned a great deal of patience from this piece that's for sure! :)
